  • Residential Parking Permit Information
    Posted on: 2007-08-06
The City of El Cerrito enforces its Residential Permit Parking policy on many streets around the El Cerrito Plaza and Del Norte BART stations.
Permits for the El Cerrito Plaza area expire on 9/30/2007 and need to be renewed.

All vehicles must display a valid, neighborhood specific parking permit to avoid receiving a citation in regulated parking areas. The City enforces the entire block length where there are signs posted as four-hour parking zones. Vehicles are exempt from the four-hour limitation only if they display a parking permit on the left rear bumper. Hours of enforcement are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Anyone may park, without limitation, on the non-posted side of the street. Residential Parking Permits are available to eligible households on both the posted and non-posted sides of the street. The maximum number of vehicles per residence is four. Participation in the program is voluntary, but neighborhood residents who park on the posted side of the street are subject to the four-hour time limitation. The City will cite vehicles parked in excess of four hours in enforced areas that do not display a valid Residential Parking Permit.

You may also bring the completed form, along with the accompanying documents, to the Finance Department for payment. If you have any questions about the Residential Parking Permit system, you may call the El Cerrito Finance Division at 215-4310, or e-mail finance@ci.el-cerrito.ca.us. If you have questions about enforcement, please contact the El Cerrito Police Department at 215-4400 during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
